In addition to his classroom experience, Bowers coordinated the mathematics portion of the Center for Academic Programs (CAP) summer program for incoming freshmen at the University of Connecticut in 2004-2006.  This program is designed to increase access to higher education for high-potential students coming from underrepresented backgrounds.
