Assistant Professor of Mathematics
Ph.D. Mathematics, Rutgers University, 2015
B.S. Mathematics, University of Science and Technology of China, 2009
Dr. Xiao received his Ph.D from Rutgers University in 2015. He was then hired as a Doob Instructor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Dr. Xiao has already made outstanding contributions to the areas of Several Complex Variables, Complex Geometry/CR Geometry. Noted are his recent solutions to several long-standing and important problems in this field and has established himself as rising star and future leader in his field.
Dr. Xiao's research program and interests complement the research expertise of current faculty in the Department working in Complex Analysis and Complex/CR Geometry and his research interests are also closely related to other groups in the Department, especially those in PDE, Number Theory, and Geometric Analysis.
Dr. Xiao is an outstanding teacher and is expected to contribute very positively to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at UCSD.
