AL BAETA
Olympic Coach, Health & Fitness Consultant, Motivational Speaker
Al Baeta, known as "Coach Baeta" to many, is a Health & Fitness Consultant and Motivational Speaker. Coach Baeta offers informational lectures and motivational speeches for companies and associations who are interested in learning how to enhance personal and professional wellness. Baeta's unique presentations lead to a positive and productive work environment.

Mr. Baeta retired after 36 years of coaching and teaching at the community college level and then created and conducted a Health and Fitness Program for the Sacramento Fire Department as Fitness Director. He recently retired, after 11 years, from that position but remains active in promoting health and fitness and motivating employees at the work site.

Coach Baeta's international experience includes being on the Men's Olympic Track and Field staff for the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain and as Head Manager of the Men's Olympic Track and Field team for the 1996 Games in Atlanta, Georgia. He was also the Airport/Liaison/USOC operations coordinator for the United States Olympic Committee at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, as well as the recent 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympic Games.

JUDITH BOYETTE
Associate Vice President, Human Resources and Benefits, UC Office of the President
Ms. Boyette joined the University of California, Office of the President, on October 20, 1997. Among Ms. Boyette's initial responsibilities as Associate Vice President is the integration of the Human Resources and Benefits functions at the University's systemwide headquarters. Ms. Boyette's prior experience in managing customer-focused service provider organizations will be important in continuing efforts at the Office of the President to provide superior quality, cost efficient services in the human resources and benefits areas to the customers at the campuses, labs and medical centers.

Prior to her tenure at UC, Ms. Boyette was Deputy General Counsel for Pacific Telesis Group in San Francisco, California, where she headed a practice group providing services in the areas of human resources, employee benefits and executive compensation, corporate securities, and corporate development. Before joining Pacific Telesis Group in 1990, Ms. Boyette was a partner in Pillsbury, Madison and Sutro, one of the largest law firms in the country, advising corporate, institutional, public and exempt organization clients in the areas of employee benefits and executive compensation.

Ms. Boyette received her Bachelor's degree with honors from Texas Women's University in 1972. Before attending law school, she was involved in the management of an insurance company. Ms. Boyette received her J.D. Degree with honors from University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1981.

DOROTHY K. BREININGER
Executive Director, Center for Organization and Goal Planning
Dorothy Breininger is the owner and Executive Director of the Center for Organization and Goal Planning with offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston. She is the President of the National Association of Professional Organizers in Los Angeles, and has been asked by HGTV and the Discovery Channel to do a weekly television show on organizing.

Over the last 17 years, Dorothy has worked closely with a variety of clients, including CEO's, academics, professionals, high profile celebrities, and entrepreneurs who need assistance organizing their space and systems as well as assisting those seeking guidance about personal and business goals.

Dorothy has first-hand expertise in office and home organization, goal planning and motivation. Her book on motivation is scheduled for publication in Fall of 2002.

In addition, Dorothy and her staff host an annual "wellness" retreat in Sedona for clients to regroup, relax and redefine their life goals and dreams. Dorothy is a professional speaker and has addressed countless groups, large and small, including audiences at Northeastern University in Boston and UCLA.

Dorothy attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison on a gymnastics scholarship, and after living in London and Boston considers Los Angeles her home.

Joan Dillon has held her current position since 1976. Prior to her employment with the University, Ms. Dillon was employed with an insurance broker for five years in Denver, Colorado handling commercial lines insurance. Ms. Dillon attended the University of Colorado in Boulder for three years, and received her Associate in Risk Management Certificate in 1993.

CHRISTINE W. GAILEY
Professor of Anthropology, Chair, Department of Women's Studies, UC Riverside
Working with the dedicated faculty and staff of the department, Prof. Gailey is helping to shape the future of this rapidly expanding department, committed to the understanding of women's varied experiences and forms of organizing around the world, the production of feminist theory informed by such diversity, and feminist practice in our communities, home lives, and classrooms.

Prof. Gailey came to UCR from her previous teaching positions at Northeastern University (Boston), Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Graduate Consortium in Women's Studies at Radcliffe, and the State University of New York, College at Old Westbury. She received her B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) and her Ph.D. from The New School for Social Research (New York).

ROSS GRAYSON
Director, Environmental Health and Safety, UC Riverside
Ross Grayson has a B.S. in Microbiology/Environmental Health from San Jose State University, and a Master of Public Health in Industrial Hygiene/Environmental Health from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. He served four years as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist with Santa Barbara County, fifteen years at UCSB as an industrial hygienist and hazardous materials division manager, and has been the Director of Environmental Health and Safety at UCR for four years. He is past-chair of the American Industrial Hygiene Association's Laboratory Safety Committee and of the Santa Barbara County chapter of an emergency management organization (CAER), and is currently chair of the UC EH&S Directors. Mr. Grayson has taught safety, industrial hygiene and hazardous materials management courses for nearly 15 years at both UCSB and UCR. He has founded and been involved in the development of numerous efforts, activities, and committees related to occupational health and safety, risk management, emergency management, and integrated approaches to achieve results in these programs.

MARC GUERRA
Director of Financial Control and Accountability, UC Riverside
Marc Guerra is responsible for UCR's controls initiative, and developing, implementing and maintaining certain financial system functions and controls. In his current position, Mr. Guerra frequently provides briefings and training to various campus groups/committees on risks, internal controls, and business/financial practices. Previously, Mr. Guerra spent five years as an Internal Auditor with UCR, and holds an M.B.A. and professional certifications for CPA, CIA, and CISA.

JUDITH HOPKINSON
Regent, University of California
Judith Hopkinson is the former Chief Operating Officer of Ameriquest Capital Corporation. Ms. Hopkinson holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to entering the private sector, she served as Director of Development for the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency and as Deputy Director of the Pasadena Redevelopent Agency. Ms. Hopkinson served on the California Transportation Commission from 1982-1987 and on the board of directors of the Rail Construction Company from 1990 to 1993. Ms. Hopkinson was appointed as Regent in March 1999 by Governor Davis to a term ending in 2009. Ms. Hopkinson's committee assignments for 2001/02 include: Finance; Grounds and Buildings; and Chair of the Investments committee.

Mr. Jenson has been the internal audit director at UCR for 18 years. His career has included: instructor of accounting and auditing classes at a state college; service as a CFO in industry and an audit manager in one of the largest public accounting firms. Mr. Jenson's educational degrees include a B.S. in Accounting and an M.B.A. He also holds professional certifications for CPA, CIA, CISA and CFE.

JERRY KISSLER
Assistant Vice President, Budgetary Planning & Fiscal Analysis, UC Office of the President
Mr. Kissler is responsible for accountability measures and serves as a communication "bridge" between the Office of the President and the campuses. Prior to coming to UCOP in November 2000, Jerry held management and leadership positions at UCLA and universities in Oregon and Washington. While in the Pacific Northwest, he served as the Governor's Higher Education Advisor for the State of Oregon. In addition to his university and government experience Jerry has been the Vice President of a dot-com company that partners with universities to offer MBA degrees over the Internet. He received a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from Washington State University.

DR. LUBBE LEVIN
Assistant Vice President -- Policy, Planning and Research for Human Resources and Benefits, UC Office of the President
Dr. Levin's responsibilities encompass policy development, strategic planning, legislative affairs, and best practices research, covering the full range of human resource and benefit programs at the University. She conducts the annual UC Management Institute and is the liaison for Human Resources and Benefits with faculty, staff, and annuitant advisory groups.

Dr. Levin was first appointed as Assistant Vice President for Academic and Staff Employee Relations in 1983 and has held key positions in academic personnel as well as staff human resources. She did groundbreaking work for the University in such areas as sexual harassment policy, labor relations, reward and recognition programs, diversity initiatives, domestic partner benefits, and provided leadership in restructuring the human resource policy system.

Dr. Levin received a Ph.D. and M.A. from UC Berkeley in French Literature and an A.B. with Great Distinction from Stanford University. Her academic background includes serving on the faculty at Washington University in St. Louis. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and is included in Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in California.

LINDA MUCHISKY
Senior Consultant, American Productivity and Quality Center
Ms. Muchisky is a senior consultant for the American Productivity & Quality Center and has worked at the Center for over five years. She is the manager of the Knowledge Sharing Network for Education. Together with her team, she delivers assessments, studies, facilitated sessions, workshops, and implementation assistance and creates customized solutions.

She offers clients over 15 years of consulting experience in a variety of industries such as healthcare, oil/gas, banking, and manufacturing. She has provided a wide range of services including general benchmarking, information systems development, strategic and facilities planning, quality assessment, and productivity and needs assessments. Her clients benefit directly from her strong interpersonal and facilitation skills and her ability to find solutions.

Prior to joining the APQC, Ms. Muchisky career provided healthcare and information systems consulting at Ernst & Young, and then conducted strategic and marketing consulting projects at smaller specialized firms to a wide array of clients. She gained her hands-on experience as an operations manager of a large, outpatient hospital department. She was responsible for all planning, development, personnel, facilities, marketing and many financial aspects of the ambulatory center.

Ms. Muchisky received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and a Master of Health Administration from Washington University in St. Louis. She has been listed in "Who's Who Among American Women" and has been published in KM Review. She has lived in Thailand and Saudi Arabia and worked with clients in Kuwait, Brazil, Europe, Japan, and Venezuela.

HENRY O. (HANK) ROSENFELD
Chief of Police, UC Riverside
Hank Rosenfeld has worked as a Police Officer with the University of California since 1976. He served as a police officer and sergeant at UC Irvine Campus and Medical Center, UCLA and UCR. He has been Chief of Police at UCR since April 1989. Mr. Rosenfeld holds many California Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Certificates including Basics, Intermediate, Advanced, Supervisory, Management, and Executive Professional. He is also a Graduate of USC Delinquency Control Institute and POST Command College. Mr. Rosenfeld has a B.A. in Social Ecology (Mental Health) from UC Irvine and an M.S. in Management (Leadership and Strategic Planning) from Cal Poly Pomona, Graduate School of Management.

BILL SCHMECHEL
Compliance Officer, Office of Research Affairs, UC Riverside
Bill Schmechel has worked in the research compliance arena for over 20 years. He directs the UCR Office of Research Compliance which oversees compliance with Federal, State, and other regulations for research involving animal subjects, human subjects, biohazardous materials, recombinant DNA, and conflict of interest issues. Mr. Schmechel is also a member of several UC systemwide committees including the Conflict of Interest working group, the IRB working group, and the Responsible Conduct of Research working group.

Barry Wayne Simon, originally from Portland, Oregon, attended the University of Oregon and completed his Bachelors degree at Portland State University. He now resides in Santa Monica California. Barry created and began offering "Venting Events" in the community 3 years ago, for people to have an opportunity to express their views, issues, concerns and frustrations in a fun and positive way. This audience-participation program is now being offered to organizations and corporations under the theme of: "A World that Works for Everyone - A Solution-Oriented Conversation." In addition to these programs, Barry is an accomplished investment advisor formerly with Morgan Stanley/Dean Witter and currently is an independent advisor with Wedbush Morgan Securities, Inc. Barry also provides personal coaching for professionals and entrepreneurs. In addition to several community service interests, Barry also enjoys golf, racquetball and biking on the beach.

GARY WILKINS
Director of Affirmative Action, UC Riverside
Gary Wilkins received his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern Colorado and his graduate degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He was honorably discharged from the Marines. Mr. Wilkins is currently the Director of Affirmative Action/Title IX Officer at UCR. Prior to his appointment at UCR, he was the Assistant Director of Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action at Arizona State University. Mr. Wilkins also held positions in Arizona in the area of Affirmative Action/Sexual Harassment including: Governor's Office of Affirmative Action and the Director of Affirmative Action for the Arizona Department of Health Services.

Mr. Wilkins has been a faculty member and an administrator in higher education. He served as a Consultant-in-Residence at Atlanta University in the areas of management and leadership and directed the National Center for Counseling and Instruction, a national training program at the University of Colorado, Boulder. In addition, Mr. Wilkins directed a community-based program, was a researcher for an economic development program and directed a research project on child development.
