My updated personal website can be found at Brian Kha Tran's personal website.

I received my Ph.D. in Mathematics with Specialization in Computational Science from UCSD in 2023; I worked with my advisor Professor Melvin Leok as an NSF Graduate Research Fellow and ARCS Scholar Fellow in the UCSD Department of Mathematics. Roughly speaking, my research is focused on variational discretizations of differential equations, and their applications to mathematical physics, control, and optimization.

Starting in Fall 2023, I will be a Marc Kac Postdoctoral Fellow at Los Alamos National Laboratory in the Applied Mathematics and Plasma Physics (T-5) and Computational Physics and Methods (CCS-2) groups, advised by Dr. Ben Southworth and Dr. Joshua Dolence.

I received an M.A. in Applied Mathematics from UCSD in 2019. I graduated magna cum laude from UCSD in 2017, with a B.S. in Mathematics (Honors with Highest Distinction) and a B.S. in Physics.

Here is my CV (updated June 21, 2023).
