We are looking to hire up to 8 faculty positions to start in July 2005. One position is earmarked as replacement for Freedman's position and one is earmarked as a replacement for Haiman's position. Hiring this many faculty in one year is a daunting and improbable task. To aid (I hope) in this process the department will now be using an electronic application system which is provided by the AMS at www.mathjobs.org. With this system, applicants apply online and their information will be available to all permanent faculty via the Web. With this electronic application system, you will be able to view the applications as they arrive. Your login information will soon be distributed to you.

 

We all need to be on the lookout for good candidates for these positions. If you have a person in mind, please contact a member (or members) of the hiring committee with your suggestion(s). To increase our chances of getting the best candidates and for claiming any possible upgrade money that the Dean may have for the division, it is important to start as early as possible. The job applicants have been asked to submit their applications by December 1, 2004.

 

IMPORTANT: If you wish to have someone visit and give a talk in the department as a recruitment candidate, you must first get approval from the Chair. The chair will consult the Hiring Committee before making a decisions on your request.

 

MORAL: if you a have a proposed recruitment visitor or a recruitment candidate, it is VERY important that you contact the hiring committee.
