  • Biochemistry and Biophysics
    • Biomolecular interactions, variational implicit-solvent model, continuum electrostatics, hydrophobic interactions, solvent hydrodynamic motion and fluctuations, and biomolecuular kinetics.
    • Statistical mechanics in biological physics, energy landscape theory, protein folding, molecular recognition, protein-protein interactions, and single molecular systems.
    • Brownian dynamcis, diffusion and elctro-diffusion, hybrid Brownian dynamics and continuum diffusion modeling and simulations, hydrodynamic interactions,
    • RNA interactionss, gene expressions. Mean-field models and computations.
    • Cell motility and dynamics, structure and dynamics of actin cytoskeletons, and memberane mechanics and functions.
    • Biofilms.
    • Biomedical imaging, cancer treatment, etc.

  • Mathematics and Computing
    • Scientific computing and numerical analysis: numerical partial differential equations, the level-set method for interface motion, and phase-field modeling and computation.
    • Monte Carlo simulations, molecular dynamics simuations, and numerical methods for stochastic differential equations.
    • Applied partial differential equations and the calculus of variations, and applied dynamical systems. Shape derivatives, geometric measure theory.
    • Multiscale modeling and methods.
    • PDE based image process, medical image problems, mathematical models and numerical methods for radiology.
    • Fast algorithms, GPU computing.
