Research Interests

  • Biochemistry and biophysics: solvation, implicit solvent modeling, electrostatics, the Poisson-Boltzmann and the generalized Born models, hydrophobic interactions, solvent hydrodynamic motion, diffusion and elctro-diffusion, the Poisson-Nernst-Planck system, Brownian dynamcis, energy landscapes, protein folding, molecular recognition, ion transport, memberane structure and functions, cell motion and dynamics, single molecular systems, biomolecular networks, gene expressions, biomedical imaging, cancer physics, etc.

  • Mathematics: scientific computing and numerical analysis, numerical solution of partial differential equations, numerical optimization, the level set method for interface motion, fast algorithms, multiscale methods, Monte Carlo methods, applied analysis of nonlinear PDEs and dynamical systems, applied differential geometry, shape derivatives, computatational stochastic processes, PDE based image process, wavelet and curvelet and X-let based methods for image processing, etc.
