MATH 20B: Calculus for Science and Engineering II, Lecture A00
Spring quarter 2016

Course Description Integral calculus of one variable and its applications, with exponential, logarithmic, hyperbolic, and trigonometric functions. Methods of integration. Infinite series. Polar coordinates in the plane and complex exponentials.
Prerequisites AP Calculus AB score of 4 or 5, or AP Calculus BC score of 3, or Math 20A with a grade of C- or better, or Math 10B with a grade of C- or better, or Math 10C with a grade of C- or better.
Textbook J. Rogawski and C. Adams, Single Variable Calculus: Early Transcendentals, 3rd ed., Freeman and company, 2015. (Note: We will only cover parts of chapters 5 - 8, 10, and 11.)

Homework Homework will be assigned, collected, and partially graded regularly. Each homework is due 4:00 pm, Wednesday, in homework drop boxes. Click here for the assignments. One homework assignment with the lowest score will be dropped.
    Note: Please print your names, student ID nubmers, and discussion section numbers on your homework. Please staple together your homework pages.
    Note: no late homework will be accepted unless a written verification of a valid excuse (such as hospitalization, family emergency, religious observance, court appearance, etc.) is provided.
Exams There will be two midterm and one final, close-book and close-note exams. No calculators will be allowed in these exams. The final exam will be cumulative.
      Midterm Exam 1: 2:00 pm - 2:50 pm, Friday, Aprill 22, Ledden Auditorium.
      Midterm Exam 2: 2:00 pm - 2:50 pm, Friday, May 20, Ledden Auditorium.
      Final Exam: 3:00 pm - 5:59 pm, Friday, June 10, Ledden Auditorium.
    Note: neither rescheduled nor make-up exams will be allowed unless a written verification of a valid excuse (such as hospitalization, family emergency, religious observance, court appearance, etc.) is provided.
Grading The final course grade will be determined based on the homework and exams with the weights: regular homework - 15%, midterm exam 1 - 20%, midterm exam 2 - 20%, and the final exam - 45%. The grades will be curved within the entire section A00.
