COURSE DESCRIPTION
WHAT IS MATH 100C?
This is the third
undergraduate course in abstract algebra. In this course, we will cover
the structure of groups (Chapter 7 in the textbook) and
Galois theory (Chapter 8 in the textbook.)

Blair, W. D. Abstract Algebra,
Third Edition
(Waveland Press Inc., 2006). You
are expected to read the text BEFORE each lecture.

- Exam 2 - Friday, June 1, 11-11:50am, in AP&M 7421. Topics: 7.5-7.7; 8.1, 8.2, 8.3 (up to (excluding) Thm. 8.3.8.)

- No notes, textbooks,
calculators
are allowed during exams. No make-up exams will be given and no late
homework will be accepted.

GRADING POLICY
- Midterms: 20% each;
Homework: 20%; Final: 40%. The grading will be done on a curve, the median
corresponding to a B-/C+.
