Course Announcements
(6/17) All done! The grades should be posted on TritonLink shortly. Note
that for security reasons we cannot email your grade, so please be patient.
Also, in case you're curious, here's the solution
to the extra credit problem on the final. Have a sustainable summer!
(6/15) For those who showed up to office hours today and are interested:
-1/5*ln(y) and -1/5*ln(-y/5) differ by a constant, and so are both correct
antiderivates for 1/-5y.
It's easy to see this: just subtract one from the other and use some
properties of ln.
(6/7) Office hours for finals week: Clark, Tues & Thurs 10:30-12; Averett,
Wed 11-1; Smith, Wed 2-4.
(6/7) This exam (practicefinal) was given
by John Eggers in the winter. Our exam will be similar. I will not be posting
solutions, so you should work together or check your answers yourself where
possible. Also, you may find it helpful to reread the section on "Net Worth of
a Company" in 11.6.
(6/6) The exam will take place at 8am on June 16 IN TWO SEPARATE ROOMS.
If your last name begins with A-K, go to CENTR 119. If your last name begins
with L-Z, go to CENTR 109.
(6/6) The final exam will be cumulative, with a slight emphasis on the
material covered since the second midterm. Be sure to bring your ID, since we
will be checking everybody this time. Calculators are permitted but no notes.
I will provide this formula sheet.
(5/30) Revised TA office hours for this week: Wednesday, Maia 2-4; Thursday, Barry 3-5; Friday, Maia (calc lab) 12:30-2:30.
(5/30) CAPE evaluations will be distributed at the beginning of class
on Friday. Please try to arrive on time that day so you can fill out
an evaluation.
(5/26) Approximate curve for Midterm 2: A=34-40, B=25-33, C=17-24.
(5/15) Maia and I will be at a conference on Friday and over the weekend.
Thus her Friday office hours are cancelled, and Friday's lecture will be given
by math superstar Jason Bandlow. Also note that Maia and I will have very
limited access to email while we're gone.
(5/14) For Midterm 2: calculator okay, but no notes. Again I will give
you a formula sheet. I don't have a practice
exam for you this time,
but suggest that you understand all the main theorems and practice the
different integration techniques on p. 361 (most of the odd problems from #1-60
are good to try).
(4/28) Approximate curve for Midterm 1: A=33-40, B=27-32, C=20-26.
(4/21) Things I forgot to mention in class that you should know: comparison
theorems for definite integrals and all the indefinite integral
formulas on pp. 289-90.
(4/19) These two exams (practice1, practice2) were given previously by John
Eggers. The exam in this class will be of similar length and spirit.
(4/18) Remember, you can bring a calculator to Monday's exam, but no notes.
Instead, I will provide this formula sheet for
you on the exam. Do not print it out and bring it in. You don't need a bluebook either. Just a pencil, calculator, and your student ID.
(4/6) Maia forgot her 1pm section today and apologizes profusely. She'll be in her
office (APM 2301) tomorrow from 10-11 and 12-1 if you'd like to ask her
any questions.
(4/1) Welcome.
