Information for prospective employers:

I grew up in the rural area of Oberhessen in Germany, which is located about 40 miles north of Frankfurt. After my community service at the Univserity hospital in Marburg (Lahn) I attended the Ruprecht-Karls University in Heidelberg, Germany, and obtained the Diplom in Mathematics with minor in physics in 2002.

I decided to continue mathematical research and pursued my graduate studies under the direction of Prof. Peter Teichner at the Universities of California at San Diego and Berkeley. The content of my Ph.D. thesis, UCSD 2006, is the relationship between supersymmetric quantum field theories and cohomology theories. More about my research can be found here.

In the Spring of 2006 I was awarded a Faculty Fellowship from UCSD. This enabled me to stay at UC San Diego to continue my research and to gain experience as a college instructor. Information about my teaching can be found here.

I married Maia Averett in April 2008 and in the late Summer of 2008 we moved to the Bay Area together. My immediate career objective is the application of my exceptional analytical skills in an applied context, resulting in social, economic, or technological progress.
