Math 20F: Linear Algebra, Spring 2001

Office hours: M3-4,W2-3, and by appointment

Office: APM 5256, tel. 534-2734

Teaching assistants: Jieping Ye, jye@math.ucsd.edu office hours: M11-12, TTh10-11 and Kimberley Moerman, email: kmoerman@math.ucsd.edu, office hours: MW11-12

Course material: We will cover chapters 1-5 and parts of chapter 6 of the book `Linear Algebra with Applications', by Steven Leon.

Computation of grade: The grade is computed from your scores in the final (40%), midterm (20%), quizzes (best 3 of 4) (20%), matlab problems (10%) and homework (10%).

Dates of exams:

Midterm: 5/9

Quizzes: CHANGE ! in sections 4/17, 5/1, 5/22, 6/5

Homeworks and Matlab assignments need to be turned in in sections, and selected problems will be graded. It is very important that you do the homework problems as most of the exam problems will be variations of homework problems.

Homework assignments

Disclaimer: I will try to get the homework assignment on the net in time. Due to time and other limitations, this may not always be possible. The fact that there is no assignment posted for a particular date does therefore NOT necessarily mean that no homework is due.
