Announcements
10/17/18 The first midterm will take place on Friday October 19 at the usual time
of class. Important: Students in Sections C05 - C08 should go to 2722 York. Students in Sections C01-C04 can stay in the usual
class room. If you are not sure about your section, click at Contact
to see sections and TAs. Please make sure you go to the correct room - we may run out of exams if too many students show up in the wrong
room.
10/17/18 You are allowed to use one hand-written sheet, but no calculators, phones,
books or other notes. Click on the red Exam 1 box in the calendar to see under the homework assignment for this week which material
will be relevant. There will also be an extra office hour on Th 10/18 from 4-5 in APM 5256.
Solution of Practice Exam Problem 4
11/14/18
The second midterm will take place
this Friday at noon in the class room except for students in Section C01 (Th at 4pm, TA Yijia Yang)
in SEQUOYAH 147, and Section C08 (Th at 7pm, TA Yingbao Li) in SEQUOYAH 148. Those students will be notified
by email, so please be sure you have checked it before. You can click at the Exam 2 box in the calendar for
the material, except that you need not worry about Section 5.1. The same rules
apply as for the first midterm: one cheat sheet, no calculators, phones, books
or other notes.
There will also be an extra office hour on Th 11/15 from 4-5 in APM 5256.

Solutions for second midterm
12/10/18
The final will take place in Mandeville Auditorium for students in Sections C01, C02, C03, C07, C08, and in the class room for students in the remaining sections
C04, C05 and C06. Please check your email to be sure you will go to the right room.

Below you find solutions of the practice final. Please let me know if you
find any misprints or errors (There was an error in the solution of Problem 3a
of the second midterm, which should have been [1,2,1] instead of [1,2,3]).
The material goes over all the sections you find when you click on
the red box for the final in the calendar of the website. In particular,
QR factorization and Gram-Schmidt will be relevant.
