UCSD Spectral Sequences Seminar, Fall 2006

UCSD Spectral Sequences Seminar, Fall 2006

Tuesdays 10:30-12:00 in room 7218.

Organisers: Justin Roberts, Nitu Kitchloo

As usual for our Tuesdays seminar, this is a ``learning seminar''. The plan for this term is to learn about spectral sequences and their applications in topology. The prerequisite is a reasonable understanding of homology theory and the sort of material in the graduate topology course (290).

Some good references:

McCleary "A user's guide to spectral sequences"
Griffiths and Morgan "Rational homotopy theory"
Bott and Tu "Differential forms in algebraic topology"
Mosher and Tangora "Cohomology operations and applications to homotopy theory"
Hatcher's notes on spectral sequences
Switzer "Algebraic topology - homotopy and homology"
