Homework
Homework will be assigned regularly and due Friday of each week at the end of
class.
Late homework will not be accepted, however, the lowest homework grade
will be
dropped when determining the final grade for the class. This is
expressly for
emergencies that prevent homework from being turned in, or
when homework is lost,
and should not be used frivolously.
Matlab
This class has a Matlab component consisting of five assignments and a final
quiz.
Tutoring starts in the second week in AP&M B432. Turn in the Matlab
assignments
in the appropriate drop box in the basement of AP&M. See
the math department's
main Matlab website for the assignments
and other information.
Grading Policy
Your grade will be based on the scores of the homework, Matlab assigments, two
midterms, and one final exam. It will be calculated from taking the maximum
of three
scores defined as:
Score #1 = (10% HW)+(10% Matlab)+(20% 1st Mid)+(20% 2nd Mid)+(40% Final)
Score #2 = (10% HW)+(10% Matlab)+(20% Best Mid)+(5% Worst Mid)+(55% Final)
Score #3 = Min(HW,Matlab,Best Mid,Final)
The final scores are curved to determine final grades. Around half or
more of the
tests will be based on homework or lecture.
There will be no make-up exams.
