Course Description




Homework 


There are assigned homework problems in the syllabus, but you are NOT supposed to hand in the homework and it won't be graded even if you do. Although you will not be graded for the homework, the weekly quiz problems will be out of homework problems. You are encouraged to work together on the assignments.



Quizzes


The quiz will be taken on certain Fridays (check the syllabus for the dates). No cheat sheets and no calculators are allowed during the quiz. There will be 7 quizzes in the quarter and the lowest two quiz scores will be dropped in the end. There will be NO make up quizzes.



Exams


- Midterm I : Oct. 16 (Fri) in class

- Midterm II : Nov. 9 (Mon) in class

- Final : Dec. 7 (Mon), 8:00am - 11:00am (Solis 107), Bring your student ID card


You can bring one 8.5 by 11 inch sheet of notes to each exam. No books, no calculators are allowed during the exams. There will be no make up exams.



Grading


I. Midterms : 100 * 2 = 200

Quizzes : 20 * 5 = 100

Final : 200


Total : 500


II. Best of two midterms : 100*1.5 = 150

Quizzes : 20 * 5 = 100

Final : 250


Total : 500


The total grade would be the best of I and II.
