Text: "Mathematical Analysis" (second edition) by Tom M. Apostol. Addison-Wessley.
Other texts: There are many good texts.
Two texts which give a lot of explanation:
"Advanced Calculus" by Angus E. Taylor and W. Robert Mann.
"The Way of Analysis" by Robert Strichartz.
An elegant text with less explanation:
"Principles of Mathematical Analysis" by Walter Rudin.
A good text for the more advanced material: "Real Analysis" by Elias Stein and Rami Shakarchi.
Syllabus: This course continues from 140A. In 140B we will focus on differentiation and
intergration in one variable. The material will be taken from chapters 5-9 of Apostol.
A less rigorous
treatment is given in Math 142AB, but credit cannot be obtained for both 140AB and 142AB.
Prerequisites: MATH 140A.

Midterm 1:  Friday, April 25 in class.
