Text:   Marsden and Tromba, Vector Calculus,   Freeman 2004  (Follow the link for more study material.)
Other texts:   Many multivariable calculus texts, e.g. Stewart Calculus: Early Transcendentals, Brooks/Cole 2003, contain an easy introduction to vector calculus.     Until recently, the text Davis, Snider, Vector Analysis, Quant Systems 1995, was used for 20E.   A popular introduction from the physics perspective is Shey, Div, grad, curl and all that Norton 2005.     The text Colley, Vector Calculus Prentice Hall 2002, is similar to Marsden-Tromba.

Homework: Assignments are due in Section.   Solutions will be posted here .
Exams: Bring student identification. No calculators. No books. No notes. One page of helpful formulas will be printed on the exam.
Midterm 1: Monday, February 6.   Peterson Hall, 108.
Midterm 2: Monday, March 6, Peterson Hall, 108.
Final: Wednesday, March 22, 3-6pm.  Peterson 108.
Grading: will be on a curve.   Homework: 10%,   2 midterm exams: 20% each,   final exam: 50%.
(The lowest homework score will not be counted. Missed exams will count zero. No makeup exams. No late homework.)
Exam pickup proceedure: Be prepared to review the exam for 10 minutes with no pencil or pen. After this time you need to return the test directly to the TA if you think there has been a grading mistake. Anyone who asks for a mistake correction will have a regrade of the whole test. Your resulting grade after a regrade could be higher or lower if grading errors are found.

Note: Only the exams from Winter 05 are based on the current textbook and syllabus.
