COURSE DESCRIPTION

Chapters 7-8 in Folland. Radon measures, Riesz Representation Theorem, approximation theorems, Fourier analysis.

Prerequisites: Math 240AB (or equivalent)

Text Book: Real Analysis Modern Techniques and their Applications, by G. Folland.

EXAMS AND HOMEWORK

Policies will remain the same as in Math 240AB. See Math 240AB policies


RECENT UPDATES

- Qualifying Exam on May 10, 5-8pm PDT (remote but synchronous). Final material included is TBD, but will essentially be material covered until April 22. Final cutoff will be determined closer to that date.

- Midterm on April 26, 5-6pm PDT (remote but synchronous; if you have a conflict that particular day let me know asap and perhaps we can make an arrangement). Material included is TBD, but will essentially be the same as for the Qual (but only from Math 240C, i.e., this quarter).

- The material from this quarter (240C) that will be on the Midterm and the Qualifying Exam is Ch. 7 (nothing in Ch. 8) in Folland.

- The midterm will be accessible via Canvas/Gradescope. It will be open book (Folland only, and personal notes) and Zoom proctored (not recorded).

- The lecture on the day after the midterm is cancelled.

- Extra OH on Monday 5/10 at 1-2pm. Qual same day at 5-8pm. The lecture on the day after the Qual is cancelled.
