Math 20B Written Homework
There are two types of homework assignments in this course, WebAssign homework (which will be graded) and written textbook homework (which will not be graded).
The written textbook exercises are not required, but you are encouraged to work through them. There are
many exercises included in this list. It is recommended that you work through as many as you can / are able. Working through
exercises is a good way to become proficient and develop understanding. Also, exam questions are sometimes based on textbook
exercises, so understanding the solutions to these problems should help you perform better on the exams.
Written Homework 0
These homework problems will not be turned in and graded, but if you want to do well in this class, you should do all
of these problems neatly in a notebook
and discuss any
questions you may have with your professor or TA's. To keep on track with our class, finish these problems by
Thurs, Jan 7.

Note: The material in Sections 5.2--5.5
is review from Math 20A, so we will not
cover these topics during lecture. You are advised to carefully
review these sections to make

without a good
understanding of these sections, you will struggle with
the remainder of the course.
