Here are a few humble eating recommendations for those
looking for good chow in San Diego.
I will hopefully organize these thoughts a bit when I'm sufficiently bored.
- El Zarape. University Heights. The best taqueria I've come
across in SD. Try the House Buritto if you enjoy mole.

Delia's Kitchen. Corner of Clairemont and Clairemont in Claremont Mesa.
Very homestyle mexican, cheap.
- Hodad's. OB, on Newport. Burgers are good, shakes are great, rings are fantastic.
Be sure to fast prior.

Amarin Thai. Hillcrest on University. Great seafood and fruit preparations.
If you want spicy, make sure to really press the point -- they automatically water down their food for non-asians. Try the PP Island.

Bay Park Fish Company. Off Morena in Mission Bay. Fresh Baja
native fish served in simple preparations.

South Beach. OB on Newport. Best fish tacos in SD.

Extraordinary Deserts. But you don't need my recommendation for this, just
ask anyone in SD.

Bronx Pizza. Hillcrest on Washington. Great NY style pies.

Lefty's Chicago. North Park on 30th. If you have a Chicago craving,
check it out. Avoid the stuffed crust, but all other pizzas are great. Their
beefs are very authentic, and the fries are totally worth it.

Nameless Sushi Place inside Qwiggs Restaurant. OB on Santa Monica.
No advertising, no sign, but if you head into Qwiggs, you'll see
An independent sushi bar. The quality is good, the prices are normal,
and the view is spectacular.Update: Qwiggs closed, so no more sushi!

Sultan Banoo. Cheap and light persian fare. The strawberry
salad has much to recommend it.

Arrivaderci Pizzeria. A simple, tasty, elegant date.
- Vagabond. Currently in South Park, this stylish restaurant is both a visual
and culinary nod the the owner's world travels. The menu features something from every continent.
Lunch is much more affordable than dinner. In any case, do try the saffron aïoli!
- 3rd Corner. Located in OB, this is a fantastic wine bar with a full gourmet kitchen.
There are red and white rooms to peruse, relaxed service, and a full bar. Reservations
are definitely the way to go as seating is very limited. If you have some cash to blow (and an appreciation of wine), this is a fun
way to do it.
