TRANSPORATION TO UCSD






Airport Connections:
Lindbergh Field is San Diego's primary airport. UCSD can be reached from Lindbergh Field by taxi ($25.00-$35.00), San Diego City Transit, or Airport Shuttle.


San Diego City Transit:
If traveling by San Diego City Transit from the airport take bus route #922 and ask for a transfer when boarding (all transfers are free). Route #922 travels from the airport and proceeds to downtown San Diego, where you can transfer to any one of several routes connecting with UCSD: #30, #50, #34, #41, #150 (limited times).

All express routes are $2.25 and local routes $2.00. Exact change is required. All bus schedules are listed on the UCSD Transportation and Parking Services web site: parking.ucsd.edu; or on the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System website: www.sdcommute.com.

There are also several airport-to-door shuttle services with average cost of $14.00-$17.00 per person one-way (prices subject to change).

  • Taxis:
    Taxis are available curbside at the airport, AMTRAK or Greyhound station. Since approximate cost varies from location, you should budget about $25 -$30 if you take a taxi.

    Greyhound:
    Information, fares, and time schedules may be obtained by calling 1-800-231-2222 or on their website: www.greyhound.com.

    Amtrak:
    Amtrak travels from Los Angeles with a stop in Solana Beach ($21.00, subject to change). This is the closest stop to UCSD and requires a transfer to North County Transit bus #301 ($1.50). Check the bus schedule for the Lomas Santa Fe and Highway 101 stop, which is a half-block walk from the station.     Coaster:
    The Coaster is a commuter train with limited service Monday through Friday. The nearest station is located at Interstate 5 and Sorrento Valley. The Coaster travels north and south between Oceanside and downtown San Diego. UCSD offers a Coaster shuttle service from the Sorrento Valley Coaster stop to campus. For shuttle schedules call (858) 534-RIDE.

    Car:
    UCSD is located adjacent to Interstate-5. La Jolla Village Drive, Gilman Drive, or Genesee Avenue exits can be used to reach campus. Parking permits are required on campus Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Weekends are free. Daily parking permits are $6.00 or meter parking is available. Quarterly, monthly, and occasional use parking permits are available to graduate students at varying costs.

    Disabled Parking Spaces:
    UCSD maintains hundreds of Disabled Parking (DP) spaces. A DP plate or placard can be used in metered parking (with no fee), and in DP spaces without a UCSD permit. DP placards must be displayed.
