ATTENTION:

8. More office hours are added: Amy, Friday 10-12; Nicholas, Friday 12-1 and 3-4; Zhongming, Monday 12-3.
7. Given the current schedule, 8.3 will be skipped. Wednesday covers 8.4 and Friday is reserved for review.
6. Homework 7 is accepted Wednesday, too. Homework 8 includes 8.1, 8.2 and 8.4 only (see homework section). It is due Friday and full credit is given if all problems are attempted.
5. Final exam time and place: 3-5:59pm, Monday March 14, Center 115. Remember to bring your PID.
4. Final exam will cover from section 1.1 to section 8.4. There will be NO practice final. Please consult all previous tests and homeworks. A formula sheet will be provided here.

1. As requested, HW2 can be turned in on Wed, Jan 26 by 6:00pm, if you need more time or want to use it to prepare for your mid-term one. Extra office hour is added on Friday (Jan 28) from 12-1pm, in addtion to the regular 1-2pm.

Exams
There will be two midterms and a final exam.
  All exams are close-book. No calculator is allowed. One formula sheet will be provided. One practice exam will be posted before each exam.
  Midterms 1: In class, Friday, Jan 28; Section 1.1--3.2, sample exam and formula sheet, mid-term one with solution can be found here.
  Midterms 2: In class, Friday, Feb 25, 2011
  Final Exam: 3-5:59pm, Monday March 14, 2011
  Student ID is required to take the exams. Students without ID will not be allowed to take the exams.
  No make-up exams, unless WRITTEN permission obtained BEFORE exams.

Homework
There will be weekly assignments. Homework should be turned (are due) in by 6:00pm of each Monday/Wednesday, during lecture or in my office (AP&M 5848).

You will have at least one week to finish the homework, e.g., week 1 homework is collected on Monday of week 3. NO late homework is accepted.

Homework will be assigned at the end of each lecture. It will also be posted here.
  Homework is very important. Same or similar questions will appear in midterms and final exams.
  Group discussion is encouraged. However, you have to write the homework by YOURSELF.
