Elham Izadi
Professor of Mathematics

Dr. Izadi received her Ph.D. from the University of Utah in 1991 with a follow-up degree from the University of Paris XI in 1993. She was a Benjamin Pierce Assistant Professor at Harvard (1991-95) and was then recruited by the University of Georgia in Athens (UGA) where she has been a faculty member since 1995.

Dr. Izadi's research involves Abelian varieties, and is recognized as one of the world?s leading experts in Algebraic Geometry, giving a way of linearizing various classification problems.

Izadi?s activities promoting diversity includes visiting historically Africian-American colleges to recruit students to UGA?s graduate programs. She was also active in the recruitment of underrepresented minority faculty members at UGA. She will contribute to Diversity at UCSD and for the profession in general.

Dr. Izadi has over 20 years of teaching experience and will teach both graduate and undergraduate courses in Mathematics.
