Note: In the lecture note problems listed in the assignments below you should find the corresponding problem in the lecture notes for the context of the problem.  These problems are embedded in the lecture note text where assumptions and set up for the problems have been given which are not necessarily extracted out in the stand-alone problems sets below.

Math 280C Spring 2019 Assignments:

  1. Assignment 1 is due Wednesday, April 10, 2019. 
  2.  Assignment 2 is due Wednesday, April 17, 2019.   Please postpone 10.17 of Resnick until the homework #3.
  3.  Assignment 3 is due Wednesday, April 26, 2019.   On 10.19 of Resnick, one should probably just assume that X_n>0 a.s. for all n.
  4. Assignment 4 is due Wednesday, May 1, 2019.   In the first problem, \tau is the time of the companies ruin, i.e. the first time that S_n \le 0.
  5. Assignment 5 is due Wednesday, May 8, 2019.
  6. Assignment 6 is due Wednesday, May 15, 2019.  Exercise 2.46 on Homework 6 has been moved to a "look at" problem.
  7. Assignment 7 is due Wednesday, May 29, 2019.  New due date and two added problems.
  8. Assignment 8 is due Wednesday, June 5, 2019.

Math 280B Winter 2019 Assignments:

  1. Assignment 1 is due Monday, January 14, 2019.  [Full homework assignment #1 (with corrections pointed out to me by you guys) are now online.]
  2. Assignment 2 is due Wednesday, January 23, 2019.
  3. Assignment 3* is due Monday, January 28, 2019.  You are to work alone on this assignment!
    *The first problem of homework #3 has been changed.  Please reload the homework sheet.
  4. Assignment 4 is due Monday, February 4, 2019. 
  5. Assignment 5 is due Monday, February 11, 2019. 
  6. Assignment 6 is due Wednesday, February 20, 2019.
  7.  Assignment 7 is due Monday, February 25, 2019.
  8.  Assignment 8 is due Monday, March 4, 2019.
  9. Assignment 9 is due Friday, March 15, 2019.  (Last one of the quarter!)

Math 280A Fall 2018 Assignments:

  1. Assignment 1 is due Friday, October 5, 2018.
  2. Assignment 2 is due Friday, October 12, 2018.
  3. Assignment 3 is due Friday, October 19, 2018.    Exercise 2.21 is being postponed to homework #4.
  4. Assignment 4 is due Friday, October 26, 2018.
  5. Assignment 5 is due Friday, November 2, 2018.  Postpone Exercises 2.32 and 2.33 to homework 6.
  6. Assignment 6 is due Friday, November 9, 2018.  Now due Wednesday, November 14. 
  7. Assignment 7 is due Wednesday, November 21, 2018
    In Exercise 2.44 of Homework #7, all of the L^1 spaces are supposed to be the space of functions on not space of equivalence classes for functions which are equal almost everywhere.
  8. Assignment 8 is due Friday, November 30, 2018
  9. *Assignment 9 is due Friday, December 7, 2018 (Last one!)

    *For this last homework set you are to work alone and only use the text book or the lecture notes as references. If you have questions about these problems, please ask them in class so that everyone gets the same information.
