Textbook Information
The required textbook for the course is Calculus: Concepts and Contexts (4th Edition), by Stewart; published by Cengage Learning. We will use Chapters 4-8 of the textbook in this course. You can buy a physical copy of the textbook in the UCSD Bookstore or you can buy ELECTRONIC ONLY access directly from WebAssign.
Exam Information
Exam 1: 30 Jan 2019 (Wed) — Topics included are those from Jan 7 - Jan 25.
Exam 2: 27 Feb 2019 (Wed) — The focus will be on topics from Jan 28 - Feb 20.
Final: 16 Mar 2019 (SATURDAY) — The final exam is cumulative and covers every topic from the course.
- You may use one 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of handwritten notes. You may use both sides. (No photocopies!)
- No calculators or electronic devices may be used during the examinations.
- Bring your student ID to the exams.
The following are examples of what exams in this class might look like. They are NOT practice exams. They may differ in form and content from the exams given this term. (These sample exams are based on exams given in an actual course a few quarters ago.)
TYPO: On Question 4 of the sample Final Exam, the letters "c" and "d" on the graph should be switched, so in order from left to right, the x-intercepts should read (d, a, c, b).
Exam Locations
The midterm exams are 8:00p - 9:00p in the evening. The final exam is 11:30a - 2:29p on Saturday, March 16, which is the first Saturday of Finals Week—the day immediately following the last day of class.
